School Goals

At Dodgeland Elementary School we strive to make our school be the best place for your children.  With eagerness to learn and support from home, we find that our students work hard each day to reach their academic goals while displaying positive behavior.

Throughout the school year, teachers monitor the academic progress of students, with the overall school-wide goal of increasing student scores on district and state assessments.  As a school dedicated to learning for all, we are continuously finding ways to improve our curriculum and resources for student learning.  The following inititatives are currently in place:

  • Modifying our previously written curriculum to meet the new State Common Core Standards.  The Common Core Standards have higher expectations at each grade level than the previous Wisconsin Academic Standards.
  • With the new State Common Core Standards, this year we are implementing a brand new math curriculum called Math Expressions.  Additional information about Math Expressions can be found here and online activities for students to practice math can be found here
  • Students in 5K-5th grade will become independent readers and writers through individualized instruction with Daily 5/Cafe.  You can read more about Daily 5/Cafe here.
  • Teachers monitor student progress in reading and math with formal assessments three times per year. The assessments include:

-Kindergarten Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS) given Fall and Winter

            -K-5th grade Reading Benchmark Assessment

-3-5th grade Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI)

-2-5th grade Scholastic Math Inventory (SMI)

  • Whenever there are concerns with the academic progress of students, teachers will provide addititional intervention, which is part of the Response to Intervention (RtI) program.  Additional information about RtI can be found here.
  • We are continuing to add technology to enhance student learning: smartboards in each classroom, access to ipad/laptop carts, and a computer lab.
